A great first taste for weaning is poached pear. It’s really soft, sweet, can be mixed with other fruits and is easy to pop in the freezer. This recipe is suitable for 4 months+ and is a great option for spoon fed weaning.
Makes approximately 3 portions.
- 1 pear
- Breast or formula milk
Peel and chop the pear into chunks, add a splash of water to the pan then boil for 4-5 minutes until really soft.
Drain and place into a baby blender. Pears are very watery but if you want to thicken slightly, add 2-3 teaspoons of breast or formula milk.
Blitz into a smooth purée adding more milk if required.
Check the temperature of the purée against your lip before feeding your baby.
Pear purée is delicious hot or cold.
